How to choose resources for a game server

CPU

Game loops, plugins and simulation-heavy worlds can be sensitive to per-core performance. Extra vCPU capacity also helps when several services—such as the game process, voice server, monitoring and backups—share one VPS.

RAM

Memory needs rise with concurrent players, maps, mods and cached world data. Leave headroom for the Linux operating system and background services instead of allocating every available gigabyte to the game process.

NVMe storage

Reserve space for the application, worlds, logs, updates and multiple backup copies. NVMe storage helps with asset loading and save operations, but it does not replace a sensible backup policy.

Network and location

Choose the location closest to the majority of players. Geographic distance and routing often matter more to latency than adding unused RAM.

Does DigitalCloud provide a managed game server?

No. DigitalCloud provides unmanaged Linux KVM VPS infrastructure. One-click software setup reduces installation work, but the customer remains responsible for configuration, updates, users, security and backups.

Can I deploy a Windows game server?

No. Windows VPS is not available. Choose only games and tools supported by the Linux images and one-click catalog shown in the live configurator.

Does DigitalCloud offer GPU servers?

No. DigitalCloud does not advertise GPU infrastructure. Game server workloads here run on general-purpose KVM VPS plans.

Which plan should I choose for Minecraft?

The live configurator enforces a higher minimum configuration for Minecraft. Standard Cloud is a practical place to begin for many small deployments, but mods, plugins, player count and world complexity may require more resources. Check the live requirement before ordering.

Is DDoS protection included?
